Well, here I am. It’s 2:02 in the morning and I trying to
adjust to China time “early”…either that or I just procrastinated packing yet
again. BUT, in my defense I did most of my packing on Saturday, it’s just last minute
stuff now. I hope I don’t forget anything. I can’t believe I leave for China in
the morning! It almost doesn’t seem real. I am so incredibly excited, sometimes
I feel like I can’t even contain it and I'm just going to burst! But I will admit, I also have freak out moments when it
really hits me. But mostly, I’m just thrilled.
I was talking to
Abish today about how she has always done everything first. I guess that’s what
it’s been like for me, having a big sister. She always does something and then
I figure, “if she can do it, I can do it too.” She went off the high dive first, and then
I did. She flew in an airplane alone first, and then I did. She went off to
college first, and then I did. Now we are both traveling across the world, and she
is NOT going first. Punk! She got her mission call to serve in the Philippines (super exciting!), but
won’t actually fly over until January. Which means I’m going to fly
internationally first. I’m going to be off teaching in a foreign country first.
This is all out of order. We’re both growing up. Tender.
I’m going to miss the familiarity and routine of home; for
the family and friends that I love here. But, I’ll be home for Christmas. I’m going
to miss the excitement and fun of college; for the friends that are going back without
me. But I’ll be there for winter semester. In the meantime, a whole new world <yes
that song is now in my head too> of adventure awaits me…and I can’t wait!
This is going to be an awfully big adventure; my biggest one
yet. But oh, how I love a good adventure!
Hope you have a great flight! I will watching for your updates!
